Beinn Sgritheal
The drive is over a fabulous single-track road to the lovely wee village of Arnisdale. The walk starts from sea level and the book describes this as a steep and punishing ascent and I can vouch for that!
The Walking Highlands’ description of “a turf-clutching crawl” is spot on.
The views from the route were great over Loch Hourn. The mist descended before I reached the summit and saw nothing from there. I did the whole ridge under cloud. The way down was equally punishing! Yet, I still get such a thrill.
As one of my London friends’ said, my idea of bliss and hers is quite different.
