Glen Shiel
A trainer from Inverness was out sick, so I was asked at the last minute if I could go to fort William and take a session. No appointments in the diary so I gleefully had a night with mum. The group enjoyed the session and I then headed an hour up the road to Shielbridge to camp.
I love the sound of rain on canvas which is just as well as it rained heavily all night. And on Saturday morning. MWIS had said there was a 60% chance of cloud free Munros, and I did get that – but wet and blustery at the same time. Still, it was fab to be out on the mountains again: just me and the bucks braying through the mist. Very atmospheric.
I did a fabulous ridge walk encompassing a Corbett – Am Bathach - and two Munros – ciste Dubh and Aonach Meadhoin. Shattered. First big walk in months.
Back at base camp a couple of glasses of wine sorted me out.
