What a fabulous trip D and I had on the Sea Leopard II from Craignish to the tip of Jura into the gulf of Corryvrecken. The whirlpool was very placid and we ploughed through it on the boat. The pilot told us he would not be doing this a week later as the waves would be 15-20 feet high!
En route we stopped and viewed the farmhouse where George Orwell wrote 1984.
The wildlife we saw was magnificent: harbour seals, gannets, guillemots, petrels, red deer (as Jura has about 5000 deer) and a sea eagle in her nest. Then further along her mate out cruising for food. And as if things couldn’t get any better: an osprey in her nest.
As for the feel of the sea air in our bodies and the taste of the salt on our lips we knew we’d been somewhere special.
