Stopped off at Kilmodan churchyard and went into the Lapidarium to see some carved grave slabs and a portion of a cross supposedly from Garvie.
The slabs are of the Loch Awe school and have carvings of symbols found throughout Argyll, including men wearing armour, priests, unicorns, stags and other mythical beasts, caskets, and tongs.
There is also a grave slab to Donald McCloy, minister at Kilmodan, 1609-1636.
Kilmodan church itself is interesting in that it’s a Georgian T-plan
All this was the icing on the cake following a training day in Rothesay with a drive through gorgeous Argyll countryside, and a ferry journey on a fine spring day. And I get paid for this.
