Thursday 15th July: Munt de Gherdenacia

When I met “a Cambridge Man” at the Mausoleum he said if I was only to do one Via Ferrata it should be “Runc”. Aud tracked this down as the protected walk Munt de Gherdenacia.
What a walk. The heat (about 32C) made it hard. The track up to the rock face was a slog. Then the protected path started. When we weren’t holding on to cables or climbing ladders, and had the opportunity to look across the valley, the views were stunning. This was a climb of false summits. On reaching the top of the protected walk, the meadow was beautiful. We then had a long undulating walk to the Rufugio where we drank gallons! We drank so much we didn’t feel like eating.
