OK, the title won’t make much sense unless you can suss that Gran would be Grand in French (or English) and Cier is pronounced Cheer…so we’re all of Grand Cheer.
Last night’s presentation (as well as A’s tuition) stood me in good stead as we did our first Via Ferrata – Gran Cier – a grade 1A – which the book describes as more of a protected walk which parents bring their children on to learn the techniques. And, yes, several youngsters did pass us!
My nephew and his wife lent me the harness, kaise and helmet for the trip. I arrived in the summit of Gran Cier with a stonking headache which disappeared within minutes when I took the helmet off. I loosened the helmet grip before putting it back on and thankfully my head was clear of pain on the descent.
