Friday 14th – Sunday 16th May 2010: Cure homesick - visit Oban

My old friends K+J brought another London friend (T) and her American partner (L) to Oban. L had lived in Colorado for a quarter of a century before moving to East Anglia and was missing the mountains dreadfully. My mission: take them all up a local Munro, or two.
To fortify ourselves for the walk, K treated us all to dinner on Friday where they all met D for the first time too.
On Saturday we set off for Beinn a’ Chocuill (pronounced byn a cho-chil). The walk put such a spring in the step of T+L that while K+J decided one Munro was enough for them, T+L and myself agreed to walk the ridge and complete a second Munro, Beinn Eunaich (pronounced byn ayneech). With 360 degree views of mountains L felt much better. While she is used to doing 14,000 footers back home - yep, just a wee bit bigger than our 3000footers here - L felt at peace here.
