Today was the big day: seeing if Meg was now “mountain fit”. The answer is a resounding yes! We drove through Glen Coe in incredibly heavy rain to Victoria Bridge near Bridge of Orchy. And the closer we got to our starting point the lower the cloud became. The gaps on the BBC weather map and the MWIS weather map promise of a 70% chance of a cloud free Munro seemed a remote possibility.
The walk in along the river took us past the old school house, a corrugated iron hut – now a club hut and then a stalker’s path led up into the hills walking along side a burn up towards a waterfall. Finally let Meg off the lead as we zig zagged up the mountain itself. The splendid views from the summit of Stob a’ Choire Odhair was non existent: complete whiteout! Quick picture of Meg and I on the cairn and off we went again.
On the way down 3 walkers made such a fuss of Meg, and a further two, a father and son, initially thought in the poor visibility they were about to meet the big black cat which had been in the news again!
