Following on from conversations with a colleague at work on Friday who is also a Munro Bagger, I had several changes of mind as to which Munro Meg and I would tackle on Saturday. Lots of factors needed weighing up: Would the chosen mountain be “labbable” ie would Meg’s paws be aok on the terrain. Also, it’s now well into the stalking season, and it has been extremely wet here with rivers in spate and the better weather was billed as being further east. So we headed out really early for the Cairongorm Ski Centre and from there walked in an ever steepening (but relatively speaking) straight line for the summit of Ben MacDui. There are so many routes to the summit and one man I spoke to had been on the summit 15 times! Myself, can’t imagine choosing Ben Macdui to summit that often through views from the top were spectacular. Still, passing red squirrels on the way up to the car park and then Reindeer en route to the summit of the mountain certainly made it memorable. As well as all the treats and compliments Meg got! And the remnants of snow we saw.
Still looking for the Old Grey Man of Ben Macdui o maybe another outing to the summit is required
