Sunday 30th August 2009 – A wee holiday

In my previous live I couldn’t get time off from mid August through to the end of September with exam results coming in and enrolment to complete. Now that I’m no longer in education I love having a holiday at what was the busiest time in the academic year. Bliss! Fitted in well this year with L coming through for a few days. Brought her canoe with her but the weather was too windy to give me a lesson.
We did manage to go to Crinan and Iona and Mull. On Mull we stayed with another pink sofa friend – from Oban! – who has a converted barn. Beautiful wee cottage. Toasted our healths rather a lot that evening!
The road up the west coast of Mull is a drive of a lifetime: winding round cliffs and beaches up to a gorgeous white sands beach of Calgary. The west coast is where you usually spot eagls – instead we got them en route to Tobermory – 2 golden eagles and so close. Then the male hen harrier appeared! And as we parked in Tobermory – there was an otter in the harbour! Absolutely magnificent when wildlife performs to queue!
