Took Meg to the vet to be spayed. BC Holly and I then went down to the Add Estuary: miss timed the tides and there were very few birds about. We had more success with the Osprey family neaer Crinan. Had to beat our way through ferns taller than me (ok, not too difficult) but the effort well worth it: two adult ospreys sitting on the branches near the nest and two wee heads bobbing about in the nest. Next thing, one of the chicks is balancing precariously on the edge of the nest flexing its wings – and then it took off! How wonderful to watch it’s wobbly flight path and several attempts at landing!

Wednesday 14th July 2009: Meg's op and Osprey watch
