Out at the crack of dawn to take the Sunrise cruise on the Paddle steamer Waverley up Loch Linnhe which was calm as a mill pond. Gannets, guillemots, storm petrels, seals and porpoises abounded.
Talked to some interesting people including Louis, a Mormon who initially said he lived in Stranraer. When I mentioned my mum having been born in a wee village near there - The Lochans - Louis admitted he actually lived in another wee village Mochrum. "I know it" I said. "My Great Aunts, The Miss Macquillans ran the post office there."
"I've run the post office there for the last 20 years" says Louis. "I've heard of the Miss Macquillans"
Small world, eh?
We also chatted about Reiki which Louis said he had tried once but it had made him feel so uncomfortable that he called it "the devil's hand". This led to an interesting conversation about how Reiki works on lots of levels: physical, emotional and spiritual, and perhaps the uncomfortable feeling was with it working on the emotional and spiritual levels...
