Signed up to participate in the ABCD (Argyll Beats Coronary disease) 10km which starts and finishes outside the hospital – think there might be an irony there. It’s a beautiful route round on to the sea front, following the water along the Kerrera shoreline and then up and down an incredibly steep hill into Glenshellach. Did my best ever time for a 10 km: 47mins 49 secs. I’m sure my Cretan holiday with daily 10km runs made me light of foot…as did my desire to get to Lochearnhead to meet a friend for the afternoon and walk part of the Glen Ogle Trail with views over Loch Earn.
When we got back to the village itself, the watersports café was just closing up so we took our drinks out on to the shorefront to drink.
“What sort of bird is that?” asked N.
Dark above, white underneath. Long slim wings “angled” at the “wrists”. Hovering and fishing. “It’s an osprey!” I reply. “They are ospreys. One, two, three, four. Look four ospreys! That’s amazing. “
Seemingly Lochearnhead has had ospreys staying locally and fishing in Loch Earn for a good number of years. An awesome sight which captivated us for an hour until we could no longer see them.
