Sunday 1st Feb 09: Beinn a'Chlachair

Great weather forecast - forecast - so how did I manage to pick the one side of the glen which had low cloud? See above: summit somewhere under that thick thick cloud. Great walk in going past a wee beach in an incredibly wild and remote part of the glen: the sort of place I'd love to have a picnic in the better weather!
By the time I got to the bealach I was in the cloud - visibilty zilch - so walking up the ridge to the summit was on GPS: a long ridge walk which became increasingly windy to the point of needing rocks in my pockets to maintain the vertical!
Took the easy way down: straight over the front and down long snowy steep slopes (crampons came into their own!) and easier than navigating back along the clouded ridge: a great circuit.
Beinn a'Chlachair would normally be combined with two other Munros, but I'm saving them for another day out...one with better visibility.
