Up at the crack of dawn and drove to what looks an idyllic starting point for these two mountains: Roughburn: a picnic area beside a burn and fur trees. I chuckled to myself as I stopped at the picnic area just to double check the map because the only thing that was being eaten at the picnic area was me. The midges were vicious. Otherwise the day was gorgeous: bright and sunny but no wind and midges love these conditions. Still by keeping moving I eventually outdistanced the wee blighters. And the views were once again stunning: over the Laggan reservoir, Creag Meagaidh, Nevis range (behind me in the photo) and to the north Stac Polaidh and Suiliven. And all to myself: I didn’t speak to anyone until I got to my mum’s where I was spending the night.
