Participating in this run was the initial reason for taking the cottage for the weekend.
This race has to be one of the most scenic you can do, going down one side of the Derwent water and back up the road on the other.
Depending on how much you like running up and down hills you will either call this undulating or steep. Setting out from Keswick and heading south, the road follows the shore and is fairly “enclosed”. It was also busy with traffic. The autumnal colours of the trees were beautiful. However as you reach Grange the vista opens out. The views are stunning as one climbs towards the Catbells.
Aud and Nick cheered us off from Keswick with Cheryl, Simon, Emily and Jake inspiring us at Catbells and all of them greeting us as we reached the finish. This was Mo’s first 10 mile run and she did herself proud. We thought we would get round in about 1 hr 40 mins and our official time was 1 hour 47 min 7 sec.
We had a well deserved late lunch in the Lakeland Pedlar.
