Wow! What a drive up to Glenshee. A beautiful crisp autumnal morning. The temperature as I arrived at the ski centre car park was zero degrees. Cars were already there, and empty so other walkers were already out.
The slope I started out on to walk up was steep and it didn’t take long for me to begin stripping off the many layers I started out with!
Cairnwell is, I think, the most unattractive top I’ve done – see for yourself! But the views are superb and once I started along the ridges to the next two Munros I was enthralled by where I was. I had a tea break on Carn Aosda and then toddled on to Carn a Gheoidh where I caught up with the crowds. I found somewhere quieter for lunch and then Carn a Chlarsaich waved to me: not a Munro, but a beautiful looking wee hill (871 metres). I had to walk to its summit.
It really was a gorgeous day out. There were lots of grouse and ptarmigans to feast one’s eyes on too.
