Sunday 2nd September 2007:Bridge of Orchy Hills

I "bagged" two of the Bridge of Orchy Munros today which have been waving to me for years. What a walk. A very visible path but incredibly boggy. The views from the tops (several tops) were stunning. The mountains are Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a'Chreachain. There is a fabulous ridge to walk along once you're "up" and coming down you pass a lochan and then go through the Crannach Wood of birches and Scots Pines. Having deviated from the book route (so that I could walk through more of the wood) meant covering another 3-4 kms. Well worth it. Overall, I reckon I did about 20 kms today. One walker I caught up with (on the col of the first - Beinn Achaladair) and spent a wee while walking with said I was as fit as a butcher's dog. And I felt it.
