Sunday 23rd September 2007: An Caisteal and Beinn a’Chronin

Never being one to let the weather forecast stop my ambitions I set out to claim two more Munros near Crianlarich. I soon caught up with a large group of walkers. “Were you wanting a quiet day on the hills?” asked one drolly. We chatted for a while and then went at our separate speeds – so I didn’t see them again. Once one is up on the ridge the walk to the summit of An Caisteal is glorious. Today it was windy. Very very very windy! Glorious 360 degree views, and windy.
Last time I had walked An Caisteal the weather was dreadful and I hadn’t gone on to Beinnn a’ Chronin. Today I could see my next stop. I needed to do a little scrambling down An Caisteal and up the west ridge of Beinn a’ Chronin and once my legs had stopped shaking the effort was well worth it. The way off Beinnn a’ Chronin was much easier: go north and follow the side of the mountain down to the River Falloch and follow it back to the road.
