When I first texted friends about watching a sperm whale in Oban Bay several said are you having a April Fool on us? No, it is for real. A 40 ft young male sperm whale has been gliding around Oban Bay for a few days now. My first sighting was on Sunday and Meg and I have been to watch each day since.
Lovely though it is to see such an unusual and awesome creature I really want him to get back into deeper waters and eat.

Unexpected visitor from the deep
When I first texted friends about watching a sperm whale in Oban Bay several said are you having a April Fool on us? No, it is for real. A 40 ft young male sperm whale has been gliding around Oban Bay for a few days now. My first sighting was on Sunday and Meg and I have been to watch each day since.
Lovely though it is to see such an unusual and awesome creature I really want him to get back into deeper waters and eat.
