Mum and I (and Meg) took a drive out to Mallaig. It was so wet that we parked up only for long enough to eat our soup and then we headed back the coastal road. (E drove out via the new double track road). The old coastal, single track road passes some of the most picturesque beaches anywhere: the white sands (or silver sands) of Morar.
One of my favourite stopping off points is a parking area at Camusdarach, from where a path leads through magnificent dunes on to the shore.
Usually the backdrop would be the islands of Rum Eigg and Skye. Today the mist was so low and impenetrable only a vague outline of land of some sort was identifiable.
This is the west coast of Scotland in autumn so rain and wind are frequent visitors.
Whatever the weather it’s a beautiful walk
