Meg and I popped in past mum while we were in Fort William for a book launch organised by The Islands Book Trust: St Kilda Snapshots. I enjoyed the 3 short talks – two by Islands Book Trust ‘folk’ and one by the NTS manager of St Kilda. A wee exhibition of old postcards of St Kilda was great too. The book itself has many photos taken by the late Lachlan MacDonald (whose wife, Nancy, was there and received a presentation too) of their life on St Kilda up to the evacuation in 1930 and photos of their life on the mainland thereafter.
St Kilda being one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been and the book being a personal tribute to a bye-gone island life I bought a copy which I’m now enjoying immensely.
