Our first foray into the Christmas spirit was watching the reindeer parade through Oban. We did this from a friend’s apartment which overlooks Station Square where the reindeer and Santa arrived with a police escort. Once Santa had started addressing the crowd the reindeer were secured in a large cage. Who knows whether this was for their safety or crowd safety? Still it was a fabulous sight as was the Christmas lights being switched on.
Our second Christmas outing was to Craignish Village Hall where “A Christmas Carol” was being told by Strangeface theatre group, so called for their use of masks and puppets. And bells – and the best line from the performance was on the ringing of the bells “that puts camp back into campanology”. Bad Old Scrooge was really good.
Enroute home we stopped in a lay-by and braved the -6.5 degrees cold to watch the night sky. Millions of stars so clear.
