Friday 17 September 2010: Quietly – and with great style…

…D and I had our Civil Partnership with just our two witnesses, friends from Oban.
We were picked up by Donald Mcpherson in his 1930 Rolls Royce 20/25 limousine and driven to Barcaldine House Hotel. We stopped en route at McCaig’s Tower for a photo session which was great fun as was the rest of the day. The flowers (designed by D and made by a local florist) were exquisite as were our outfits (D’s flair for style to the fore again).
The ceremony was low key. We swapped rings (another story there!) and our witnesses and ourselves read poetry while the unity candle burned.
We all recommend the Laurent Perrier Rose champagne and the canapés.
We had the run of the hotel – inside and out - for photos and had great chats with the few other guests passing through the hotel during the day: a couple of local lads and their dogs and a father and daughter on a walking holiday.
Dinner was superb and our suite where D and I stayed the night was delightful.
