Tuesday 25th May 2010: The Sea The Sea

I’m not actually meaning the Iris Murdoch book –although I read it just recently. Instead, this is about two lectures I went along to hear as part of The Oban Festival of the Sea. Both talks by people very passionate about their topics. First was a scientist from SAMS who was so enthusiastic about his work on mapping the marine life on wave exposed beaches vis a vis beaches protected from the waves. Then came the Scottish Shark Tagging Programme officer who spoke about his work on tagging sharks skates and rays around the Scottish coast. Surprising number of elasmobranchii (the Latin classification) around the Scottish coast.
