Friday 25th September – Monday 28th September 2009: Some Broads go to Norfolk

Mum and Meg and I set off early – heading south – unusual for us – for Stanhoe to stay with BC and Holly in their cottage. Big drive but worth the effort! Immediately we arrived BC and I took the girls to Brancaster beach, just catching a beautiful sunset, and then in the morning, rather a good sunrise.
A wee trip to Holt to Adnams on Saturday for some splendid wine purchases and a wee half of Bonkers Conkers local brew with lunch. Ah, I do love doing Ladies Who Lunch.
Sunday saw us walking miles along Holkham beach: stonking place to take the waters. Also on our travels we passed through Burnham Thorpe – birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson. Interesting to think of Nelson talking in a Norfolk accent…
Mum gave BC a lesson on making shortbread – which turned out deliciously and was enjoyed by BC’s neighbours who joined us for morning coffee. Very genteel!
