Having done The Grey Corries (which form part of the Mamores) last week I can now say that this has to be one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Scotland: a high steep and craggy ridge – narrow in places, very narrow in other places!
Once you are up on the ridge you are on a roll – panoramic mountain views in all directions – Ben Nevis from a very different angle with Carn Mor Dearg arĂȘte, views into Glen Coe and across the Aonach Eagach Ridge.
Midges seemed to have changed rules of engagement: I was eaten alive on the summit of Na Gruagaichean (1056m) and there was even a breeze and it was sunny. Always thought that height and breezy sunshine guaranteed a midge free environment: wonder if there is a new strain of midges with altitude.
