Tuesday 10th March 2009: Stac Pollaidh

Stac Pollaidh is one of my most favorite mountains in the world. It's small - only about 1/14 of the height of Everest (another of my favorites) but it's perfectly formed. I climbed it many years ago (Stac Pollaidh I mean) and suffered incredible vertigo both on the way up and on the ridge and on the way down the path - which I did mainly on my bum!
This time it was completely different. OK, I have my walking poles which help everywhere. I also did some scrambling on the ridge and no vertigo. Views were stunning - and I was able to appreciate them this time! What's also really good is that there is a path all the way round the base: a really interesting circuit, which I did anticlockwise. Must be the left hander in me.
