Beinn nan Aighenan is a remote mountain with a steep north ridge with lots of rocky outcrops. Before reaching the mountain itself you walk up a gorge with Ben Starav to your right and Glas Beinn Mor straight ahead.
Beinn nan Aighenan is hidden behind Ben Starav (accessed via Geln Etive) - completely out of sight until you get to the bealach. And this was a gorgeous morning to attempt the walk: clear sunny and very very frosty.
The views were breathtaking until about 100 metres in height from the top when cloud descended and for a short while I was in a whiteout. So none of the promised views across to Ben Cruachan for me.
My companions for the day were the chattering but elusive cross bills – so heard but couldn’t see them - a buzzard, and deer – quite fitting as the name means hill of the hinds.
