This is another Munro reached from the lower part of Glen Etive. So a gorgeous drive down the glen – avoiding the deer – to the starting point. It’s a beautiful walk up the river, past the Robber Falls and to the bealach which separates Stob Coir’ an Albannaich from Glas Beinn Mhor.
By the time I got to the bealach, I was doing it on the trust of the GPS. Total whiteout. Had a think and a look at the map and decided that it looked a straight forward up and then right (she says technically) when one reaches the ridge.
It is bizarre and amazing walking in a whiteout. Quite disorientating. Weather was calm and the silence resonating. With the snow I decided it would be safe to get back down by following my deep set footprints. It was just what was required! I felt great. Centred and Grounded once again.
To add to the surreal feeling, while I couldn’t see a thing except my own tracks, a friend in Edinburgh called on the mobile and we chatted till I was back at the bealach – now visible! What a day.
