Saturday 15 Nov 2008: Glenshee Munros

Today I was showering as the Shipping forecast was on (0520 hours!). So an early start through dreich Oban weather to clearer skies of Glen Shee. I had attempted the 4 Munros I did today (Carn anTuirc, Cairn of Claise, Tolmount and Tom Buidhe) once before but turned back after completing only two of them as the cloud had been so low. Today was bright and clear – but incredibly windy: according to MWIS gusts of up to 60 mph – and I can vouch for the reliability of this!
No photo of me on the tops today as I couldn’t secure the gorilla pod to take pictures! Really too windy.
The wildlife was grand:deer, buzzard, pheasant, grouse – red and black telling me to “go back go back go back”, woodcock, ptarmigan and a flock of snow buntings. Stunning.
