The weather at sea level today was gorgeous but once I got up in to Munro territory things changed!
The walk in to Stob a’Choire Mheadhoin is beautiful: starting from An Dubh Lochan just short of Fersit. You get on to a minor top (Creag Fhinaclach) and then walk along a broad ridge with lovely views over Loch Treig and other local Munros. You then reach another minor top which looks a bit more challenging – and it was: it needed a wee bit of “hands on” scrambling, which I managed! It was after that thick mist surrounded me. Still it was straightforward to follow the compass and I reached the summit. The wind also got up and the deciding factor not to continue to the next Munro was my difficultly in maintaining an upright posture! Stob Coire Easain will be there for me again.
The minor top in the picture is Meall Cian Dearg which does look quite imposing as you approach. Behind it you should see both Munros I was out to claim. But both tops are shrouded in cloud – and remained that way.
