Sunday 3rd June 2007: Dreich compass weather

While the weather was dreich (infact some of the worst I've ever walked in) the day was magic nonetheless.
I topped Stuchd an Lochain and Mealle Buidhe both of which sit at the top of Glen Lyon but on opposite sides of the Giorra Dam. To do them both, one does them individually starting from the dam and retracing one's steps.
Both are relatively easy walks (providing one has a compass and knows how to use it) with a challenging and gorgeous drive to get to the start.
Glen Lyon is a stunningly beautiful glen which I reached via a single track road over the Ben Lawyers range from Killin.
The wildlife on the drive up the glen was amazing - I missed the signs which warned me about deer, rabbits and siskins only seeing several notices highlighting lambs and red squirrels.
On the walk I saw stonechats, wheatears, ptarmigan, plovers and mountain hares. Fortunately all very close by as visibility was less than 50 metres!
