Tuesday 1st May 2007: The first three months at work

Wow! Tempus fugit. I'm half way through my contract. And I'm just loving it! Perhaps I just don't realise the enormity of what I've done and what I'm meant to be doing. It's well seen I don't have a job description as my responsibilities seem to change (and by that I mean grow!) daily. With each new "Linda, I'd like you to do this" I think: something extra and new to update my CV with when I have to find a permanent job. My latest new responsibility is to take over the management of the IMAs - Information Management Advisers who support the implementation of the Records Management package across the SE. No small task. And no,I've never done records management as such, but I'm looking on it as a huge library catalogue and that is something I am familiar with, as well as the difficulties customers have in trying to use it. I have my first meeting with the IMAs on Monday. Some are librarians who've had to take on the role of records management, others are records managers who are now going to be taken on by a librarian. And as I've mentioned previously the "L word" isn't generally acceptable and now they are going to be managed by one. I'll be launching a real charm offensive.
