Sunday 1 April 2007: Munro bagging

The forecast promised brilliant weather for today so I set off early for the Ben Lawyers car park to bag the Lawyers Massif, surprisingly enough. The bible for those who are out to bag Munroes (Scottish mountains over 3000 ft high) is very disparaging about the route via the car park eg busy as a motorway, a slog and uninteresting. Maybe it's the excitement I feel and the adrenaline rush I get when I'm walking but I found the route very quiet. I didn't see anybody until 1245 hours and I found the walk, once I was over the duckboards and therefore over the worst of the bog, a thigh warming and lung bursting start to the day! The views were spectacular over Loch Tay and I could see for miles in all directions. I could make out the Firth of Forth - Edinburgh, and Ben Nevis was clear and distinct. I bagged three peaks today: Bein Ghlas, Ben Lawyers and An Stuc. It's when you get to the top of Beinn Ghlas that you first see the Lawyers Massif in front of you. A spectacular panorama. The photo is me on top of An Stuc with Ben Lawyers on the left and Bein Ghlas to the right Must press on.
