Our friend M offered us her cottage near Bunessan on Mull for a short Honeymoon. Our journey there was beautiful with the autumnal colours of the trees and hillsides brightening the remote landscape we traveled through to get to Lochaline for the short ferry crossing to Fishnish.
At a wee shop enroute we found a postcard with a lovely looking beach on it, and later on we past the sign for the beach –Carsaig – where we had a lovely walk along the coastal cliffs and caves passing some amazing rock formations which we both thought included fossilized tree. Needs further exploration.
We visited the remnants of a medieval church with fascinating gravestones on Friday. And on Saturday spent a wonderful day on Iona wondering through the heritage centre, the abbey and graveyard, St Columba’s hotel for afternoon tea (first to be served was Meg with a bowl of water) before heading for one of the beaches on the south side of the island.
Each morning the cloud formations were amazing and both D and I captured them on camera: D from the cottage and me out walking with Meg.
Mull has one Munro (Ben More) and Meg and I tramped up the “tourist’ route. A fab walk.
A wee jaunt to Tobermory finished off our trip on Monday.
