Sunday 27th July 08: Hot hot hot!

The first Munro I’ve walked this year in my shorts (still with goretext trousers and jacket in rucksack) and it was incredibly clammy. My destination was Sgor na h-Ulaidh which I had attempted from this Glen Etive side earlier on in the year. I’d decided to turn back then because the snow was so deep. Today, the mountain still was as steep to ascend and needed quite a bit of scrambling as the ridge and summit is quite stony. And loaded with wee beasties – not midges because you could actually see the wee blighters: little black insects. So, a quick texting session, a drink and piece and then retracing of footsteps. The views were stunning if hazy. The whole walk is a beautiful mix of open and seclusion: on the way back, open country with some amazing erractics until hitting the forest edge and then a delightful forest trail back to the car.
