Saturday 24 Feb 2007: We're here we're queer and we're going shopping!

The best thing about shopping on Princess Street is that there are only shops on one side of the road - while the other side of the road overlooks Princess Street Gardens and the Castle - a stunning vista - especially in spring with a bank of daffodils leading up to the Castle.
The shops on Princess Street are the regulars you'd expect in most cities - other than Jenners: an Edinburgh institution, or was before it sold out to House of Fraser.
The best place for tat (and Scottish tartan tat at that) is the Royal Mile.
Bruntsfield, Morningside and the Pink Triangle have the most interesting and individualised shops.
One of my favorites - purely for its name is Tattie Shaws. Another favorite is Real Foods - two branches now, one in Broughton Street and one in Brougham Street. Real Foods by name - unreal prices by nature, but then they sell organic vegan and vegetarian goodies.
There are some stonking delicatessens - Valvona and Crolla, Peckham's and Crombies. Mouthwatering goodies.
